Apple Rejects Dashboard iPad app and Opens Source instead

April 10th, 2010

After long hours of search you land up finding an app that adds some much-needed Dashboard-like functionality to the iPad only to realize that it has been rejected by Apple– Bling bling what next?? If you’re Hongrich, developer of the slightly problematically-named “Dashboard” app, you make it open source. Of course, you’ll have to be a developer yourself to actually try out the app, and it’s not exactly the full-fledged Dashboard that many have been hoping for, but rather a standalone app that simply lets you run and arrange widgets however you like. Though it is a certain start. Read the rest of this entry »

FCC Wings Bagged by T -Mobile’s My Touch Slide

April 9th, 2010

HTC has recently leaked a shot of a product through a private FCC filing which is a rare but confirmed sighting, so you know how desperate we were to share this news with you. this is a smartphone running 3G on WCDMA Band IV, which — for those who don’t have their bands memorized — is the AWS spectrum that T-Mobile uses. we think that this is the rumored Android-equipped myTouch Slide that we’re looking at here — and with a Spring launch window having been rumored in the past, this certification looks like it’s running right on time.

Europe is Epecting Palm Pre Plus and Pixi Plus By the end of This Month

April 9th, 2010

Inquisite juices are to be flowing again. Pre Central have unearthed the above O2 Germany promotional poster displaying a Palm Pixi stood in front of such smartphone luminaries as Sony Ericsson’s X10 and Motorola’s Milestone. Knowing the fact that the Pixi has yet to make its entry in the Atlantic, their supposition is that we’re looking at its Plus variant and that this early flier is indicative of a soon-ish release for the Euro-bound Plus devices from Palm. Now we wont be able to make any more specifications. Well special thanks to Laurent Guyot, a French PR chap, who indicates an April 27th launch date for the Pre and Pixi Plus on the SFR network. you can trust this piece of information as much as you want to, though it does seem to look like a resoundingly logical time to get these handsets out into hands of the awaiting Europeans.

More of Apps To Be incorporated With Mitsubishi’s Unisen LCD HDTVs

April 9th, 2010

If you are of the types who prefer a slimmer module of television viewing experience without the 3D nonsense then Mitsibishi has just the thing for you. It has refreshed its Unisen LCD HDTVs. The fresh models have StreamTV a.k.a VUDU Apps built in, alongwith playback from USB devices, and edge LED backlighting. Search The Web Search Wikipedia Through iPhone OS 4.0

April 9th, 2010

Apple has done a hilarious job bringing its iPhone OS up to feature parity while comparing it with the other modern smartphone platforms, and here is one big thing not discussed today that we have been long wanting: web and Wikipedia search directly from Spotlight. WebOS and Windows Phone 7 have had it since inception, and Android’s had it since Donut, and this makes us quite contented and we say that our very own OS 4.0-equipped iPhone is now also among the ranks, just 13 months after it first got a search bar.

Colorware’d iPads Causing Loss of Retinas and Savings Making Them irrecoverable

April 9th, 2010

Paying a hell lot of money ($500) for a silly tablet was considered awful till the news of paying an extra $410 to get the thing in some other color than raw aluminum rung your ears. Yes you heard it right, Colorware is on the roll again, this time dunking the back of iPads into giant vats of Technicolor dreams — or nightmares, depending on what combination of hues you choose. You can make your own design, with separate colors for the back, logo, and home button, but there’s no escaping that $410 service charge — or you can pay $910 for a new, painted 16GB model. The 64GB model is a zooming amount of $1110, fortunately the inspirational video of the promo is absolutely of Zero cost. Read the rest of this entry »

BlackBerry 9650 Spotted in The Wild Again, ‘Bold’ Branding Confirmed

April 9th, 2010

The Tour branding never made a lot of sense — RIM’s most recently-released high-end portrait QWERTY device for CDMA networks occupies the same market position as the Bold over on GSM networks, so the name difference is kind of arbitrary and more than just a little bit confusing. It’s all good, though, because CrackBerry has confirmation here that the Tour’s replacement — the 9650 – is going to be wearing a Bold badge loud and proud around back by the 3.2 megapixel camera. It’s not clear exactly when Sprint and Verizon are going to launch this sucker, but it’s patently obvious that they both will — it’s just a matter of time — so you may as well start prepping your eulogy for that infernal trackball now.

Citation of Lack of Direct Relationship States Adobe Distancing itself Fromm JooJoo

April 9th, 2010

Our team was taken aback when Adobe’s PR team gotin touch to inform us that Fusion Garage “has no direct relationship with Adobe.” Citing the young startup’s non-participation in the Open Screen Project and use of “a public beta release [of Flash] designed only for desktop use, Adobe is in for partitioning itself from JooJoo, and it has been urginf us to look at the alternatives from its partners like HP, Dell and Lenovo. Brining to your notice that not one of those companies is till date selling a competing tablet, and it’s not like there’s some magical formula that will make 720p Flash video run smoothly on a bare Atom CPU (remember, Ion GPU acceleration is not yet available for the Linux-based JooJoo), but we do not have any right or authority to stand in the way of carefully worded damage limitation statement? Given below are the words of Adobe . Read the rest of this entry »

Long Awaited 15-inch MacBook Pros MIA Coming on April 13th

April 9th, 2010

Are you still longing for those refreshed, possibly Core i5- / i7-equipped MacBook Pros that have been long rumored? Incase a source close to the Australian MacWorld has any fortune, we’ll be lucky enough to have updates of the features of the new model Pro and Air, by this Tuesday April 13th. As of now there are no clues as to what the features would really be, but with out an event all its own, the best we can expect is probably a spec boost. Best Buy seems to be adding some fuel to the fire, first by showing a proverbial mark of death in its database last month, and now by making the 15-inch model unavailable on BestBuy.com. There is no doubt to the fact that the retailer’s awaiting new shipment of potent portables. Read the rest of this entry »
